The [former Arncliffe] Quarry, including rock faces and the public reserve above, located at 40 John Street, Bardwell Valley, within the Bayside local government area, is listed as a landscape item of local significance on Schedule 5, Environmental Heritage, Rockdale Local Environmental Plan 2011.
Tree roots were destabilizing the cross-bedded sandstone on the quarry face which poses a public safety risk, necessitating remediation works. Proposed works include removal of all trees / saplings growing on the rock face and poisoning of stumps, extension of draped steel mesh, possible installation of rock bolt(s) and installation of a rockfall fence.
