It is the oldest homestead in the former Wyong Shire, but was severely damaged in an arson attack in 2011. European occupation of the site dates to the 1830s.

This first draft Plan of Management for Alison Homestead Museum was prepared by Sue Rosen, architectural historian Dr Noni Boyd, and landscape architect, Christine Hay, aided and abetted by historian/researcher Liz Gorman.

The team adopted a cultural landscape approach and worked in an interdisciplinary fashion on all aspects of the plan preparation, undertaking intensive community consultation in the process. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable process and very rewarding for all concerned.
